Three Peaks Challenge

2009
We owe a very big thank you to the Scott Wilson Millenium Project a registered charity focussed upon the relief of poverty, hardship and distress among children in developing countries throughout the world. An intrepid group of 14 of their Leeds employees donned their hiking boots and took to the hills on the 3rd July 2009 to take part in the 3 Peaks Challenge. The aim being to summit the three highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales in the space of 24 hours!!
The clock started at the foot of the first mountain and ended after descending the last one. It involved a total ascent of 9700 feet, 22 miles of walking and over 950 miles driving.
Thanks to their support and selflessness they raised an amazing sum of £2000 for Akaash Ganga.

2010
Throughout the year we have been involved in raising funds for Akaash Ganga here in Spain. The generosity of people never ceases to amaze us. Here on the Costa Tropical there is a regular meeting of expats and during the summer we were invited to go and talk to them about the work of Akaash Ganga. As a direct result of this one of their members offered to provide a curry lunch at their home and also to auction a case of wine one bottle at a time!
We also had donations from many others in the UK as well as people doing fund raising events, ranging from talks to theatre evenings.
All the money raised was taken later in the year directly by Lyn to Akaash Ganga where it was put to very good use on behalf of the children.
2011
At the beginning of the year we were particularly excited at the prospect of two English women who wished to go to the sewing project in Rajasthan. Both women were experts in sewing and tailoring. We knew that they would be able to help in a very significant way and we were not to be disappointed. More to the point the women working at the project gained a lot of skills they did not have before. This is very important as these women earn a living from the project and hope to be able to sell their goods through the internet which has already started to take off much to everyones joy.
The two English women spent three months at the project and the experience proved to be something of value to them as well, in many more ways than one. We were very lucky to have them.
2012
This year we are hoping to raise sufficient funds for the school in Bhuj, Gujurat which is for children with learning difficulties including hearing impaired. They desperately need an audiometer which will help to enhance the children's lives. We have already had one or two donations from people who know the work we do, one group being an Onion Society in Shropshire. We are particularly looking forward to a musical concert to be held in our area in March this year, the proceeds of which are going to be donated to this particular project.
A VERY BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYBODY WHO HAS HELPED US SO FAR.
